Whether you’re replacing a broken tile or retiling a whole wall, removing old adhesive is an essential part of the task. The type of adhesive and the material of the wall can all determine how much effort you need to put in. Some types can come off quite easily, while others may require a little more elbow grease. Fortunately, SMART have developed the Rigid Scraper blade which is ideal for fast adhesive removal.
What is the Rigid Scraper blade?
The Rigid Scraper Blade is a multi-tool accessory that’s designed for a range of uses, including removal of floor coverings and silicone. Removing tile adhesive is just one of the many uses of this versatile blade. Offering fast and effective adhesive removal, this blade will instantly turn your multi-tool into a powerful scraper.
Tools to removing adhesive
A multi-tool is by far the quickest and easiest tool to remove adhesive. But if you don’t own one, there are other tools available. Generally, you would use a standard scraper tool to remove old adhesive. As this would be quite tricky and labour-intensive to do by hand, a common trick some tradespeople use is to steam the old adhesive before scraping. Particularly when removing a large area of adhesive. This essentially melts the adhesive, making scraping by hand a lot easier.
Although scraper tools are suitable for removing adhesive, they are much more time consuming compared to the Rigid Scraper blade. By using the Rigid Scraper blade, you’ll achieve flawless results much quicker than any other manual tool.

If required, remove the tile you are replacing by using a hammer and chisel to carefully chip out the tile.
